AVG Technologies provides desktop, laptop, and mobile security, optimization, and backup software which is delivered by Internet download. They claim to have grown a user base to approximately 106 million active users as of September 30, 2011.
The majority of AVG Technologies' active users have been users that have downloaded their free products and online services. AVG Technologies also offers products with premium functionality and enhanced customer support when customers purchase an annual or multi-year subscription. As of September 30, 2011, AVG Technologies claims to have had approximately 15 million subscription users.
In 2011, AVG Technologies launched AVG Mobilation for Android-based mobile phones, AVG LiveKive, a cloud-based storage, sync and share solution and MultiMi. In addition, they acquired TuneUp Software GmbH, or TuneUp, a leading provider of PC optimization software.
AVG Technologies distributes products primarily online, and also has a global network of resellers and distributors, including CNET, Ingram Micro and Wal-Mart.
